Here's some of my latest paintings...
I call my tecnique graphic painting, for drawning has a major effect on the final result. The tensions in my pictures come from the interplay between line and surface. They are oil paintings although they are reminicent of graphic prints.
Silence talks to me and can be seen in my works. An uncluttered balanced whole, where not only the eye, but also the soul is at rest- that is what I want to achieve.
From the series In Search of Forefathers
Through my works I approach my roots. The images and beliefs emananting from the rock paintings lead me to prehistoric times and touch the primeval instincts latent within us.
A subject based on prehistory needs no great explanations. It is always relevant anywhere in the world, although my own work centres around the past of the North and the beliefs of our forefathers.
The forefathers of the Finns created their rock paintings at the time of the hunter- gatherer culture, that is 3500 B.C. to 500 A.D.
